Possibly the most entertaining Film i have watched all year!

Before saturday the 12th july I would have said that in terms of pure emotion in this case (laughter) the happening was the most entertaining film to be released this year, followed closely by Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

And bear in mind Forgetting Sarah Marshall was hilarious with Russel brand playing himself. And The Happening, well once again i refer you to my good friend Dan's blog. Enough Said.

But now i have seen MAMMA MIA! I want to go again, how can i resist it! (see what i did there).

Firstly it is quite important i feel to mention that, you should not see this film at the Cinema if you have an "old person Fobia". i don't know if there is such a thing, but just a warning, most of the audience have been receiving the benefits of a pension for atleast 10 years.
One may assume that this made the cinema experience, well a little mundane and a little drole. But oh no, those folks were cheering, laughing, clapping and singing to the songs. Ironically the best cinema audience i've ever been with. In fact a search goes on for one member of that audience that some of you will know about (and no that person does not receive a pension).

Now admittedly the first 5-10 mins were a bit grimmacing, with the too girly for me song - which starts with "I had a dream", by the girl that looks like the student that dated Ross in Season 6 of Friends (the one that had Bruce Willis as the Dad). Anyway.
Then we were introduced to her dodgey insignificant to the plot and anyone watching. And for some perculiar reason one of them was Scottish. And then in a powerpoint like fashion the main titles come up, but never fear after this short time you will love it. However you do have to contend with the firends guest star, and her scottish friend and co, seemingly getting excited, by reading her mum's sex exploits from a diary, of course to their own muscial stylings of Abba song Honey honey.

Meryl Streep is obviously frustrated with being on her own from teh moment we see her, worn out, singing about how she wants money money money. Oh and i can't remember all the songs, but the one where donna starts singing it - i think Dancing Queen, mayble and everyone follows her and 100s of menapausal women running down cobbled streets (thats where julie walters sprained her ankle or something) is funny.

However the defining moment in the film for me is when the three potential dads join the story. James Bond (pierce Brosnan), "the err bumbling British fool" (Colin Firth) and some other guy.
This is where the manliness starts in this film to the extent that you don't have to worry about being acused of being gay anymore, well not really cos Colin Firth turns out to be gay, and pierce Brosnan singing - well its rare that something is so funny that two strangers can talk about it across the aisle in teh cinema screen, as i and the girl opposite to me (actually someone our age lol!). It was hilirarious.

Errrrr well its was funny i can't remember much of it actually lol but i assure it was fantastic. The funniest bit though had to be Julie Waters rendition of "take a chance on me". (which she improvised most of this scene). So funny. The whole audience woke from their comas and came alive in a unison of laughter.

And make sure you all stay at the end of the film, for renditions of dancing queen and Warterloo, where you can grimace at james bond and colin in Abba style spandex tracksuit things lol.

Ok no comparison to Dans' review of the happening i know but im doing this damn yearbook, i'm tired and i did actually enjoy the film lol.

Simon, the search for the Mamma Mia girl continues lol.

And on a scale of gear grinding,
Mamma Mia, my friends, did not really grind my gears.
However the insignificant Scottish friend and the dodgey use of zooms, with sound effects at one point, did.

Old Person 'Fobia'? What did you get in English Matt?

And give up on your search! You will never find her!

Good review, Matt. Reviewing one of the worst movies of 2008 must have been a difficult task.
